At the Kensington Krawl, experience the city of Toronto through your taste buds. Stroll through Kensington Market in Downtown Toronto while a guide introduces you to local shopkeepers and chefs, explains the history and heritage of the market, and of course offers you some food-and-bev along the way. You’ll hit a cheese shop, bakery, butcher shop, Mexican eatery, family-style Italian pizzeria, spice shop, and more.

Since the early 1900s, the market has served as a meeting point for the community. At the time, Jewish immigrants were settling the neighborhood and began selling goods from pushcarts and horse-drawn carriages. Over the years, new groups of immigrants—Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Jamaican—have all contributed to the market’s inclusive, diverse spirit. Eclectic architecture, too, defines the market. Brightly painted houses and street art make the stroll a visual pleasure as well. In 2006, the country even recognized the market as a National Historic Site of Canada.

Tours take place throughout June. Check the website for the schedule.
